Lake Kummerow

Lake Kummerow is a freshwater lake in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany, known locally as Kummerower See and forming part of the Peene river system.

The shoreline is used for boating, angling and birdwatching, with several small harbors and walking paths around the lake. The waterbody lies within the broader Mecklenburg Lake District and is valued for low-intensity recreation and wildlife rather than large-scale tourism.

The lake and surrounding wetlands were shaped by glacial and post-glacial processes and have long been used for fishing and local transport along the Peene. Over time the area has remained largely rural, with only modest development on the shores.

Geographically it sits in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, between the towns of Demmin and Neubrandenburg, embedded in a lowland landscape of lakes, rivers and mixed farmland.
