Lake Hajikabul Lake

Lake Hajikabul is a lake in Hajigabul District in central Azerbaijan. It lies within the lowland portion of the country and is a local freshwater feature.

The lake supports local fisheries and agricultural uses and is accessed from nearby towns within Hajigabul District. It is one of several lakes and reservoirs in central Azerbaijan used by surrounding communities.

The lake is a natural shallow waterbody in the lowlands of central Azerbaijan; its size and depth are typical of regional lakes in that area. Human use has focused on fishing and local resource use rather than large-scale recreation.

Geographically the lake sits in Hajigabul District in central Azerbaijan, within a flat lowland landscape that links to regional transport and irrigation networks.

From Baku (about 120 km east), drive west on the M2 toward Hajigabul town; the lake is 6-10 km south of the town centre. There is no formal public transit directly to the lake-taxi or rented car from Baku or local buses to Hajigabul plus a short taxi are the usual options.

• Visit in late afternoon to see the water take on bronze tones; the shallow western shores warm quickly and are pleasant for wading.
• Bring binoculars for birdwatching-migrant waders stop here in spring and autumn.
• Use the small road east of Hajigabul town to avoid the potholed main approach; parking is limited at the lakeside.
