Lake Erçek is a lake in Van Province in eastern Turkey, situated to the east of the city of Van. It lies within the highland terrain of eastern Anatolia and is a separate basin from nearby Lake Van.
The lake supports local birdlife and wetland habitat where water levels permit, and its shoreline is used by nearby communities for grazing and small-scale fishing. The lake is set in a tectonic and volcanic landscape typical of the region.
Erçek occupies a basin formed by regional tectonics and volcanism that characterize the Van area. Its size and salinity can vary seasonally and with local hydrology.
