Lago di Mergozzo is a small lake in Piedmont, northern Italy, lying just west of Lake Maggiore and adjacent to the town of Mergozzo. It is recognised locally for clean water and a relatively tranquil setting compared with the larger nearby lakes.
The shoreline supports swimming, small boats and lakeside walking; the area around the town has cafes and modest visitor facilities rather than large resort infrastructure. Recreational use is focused on low-impact activities.
The lake is a natural feature formed in the Po basin foothills and has been used for local fishing and recreation for many decades. Settlements on the shore developed as small lakeside villages rather than large tourist developments.
It sits immediately west of Lake Maggiore in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area of Piedmont, close to the town of Mergozzo and within easy reach of the lake towns and transport links of the region.
