Lägh da Cavloc (Lago Cavloc) is reached from the village/hamlet of Maloja in the Upper Engadin. From Maloja a marked mountain path leads uphill to the lake; the walk is a short mountain hike of roughly 2-3 km and typically takes about 40-60 minutes on foot. Maloja is reachable by car and has local parking; regional PostBus and local bus services connect Maloja with nearby towns such as St. Moritz and Samedan, making Maloja the usual public-transport access point.

- Aim for early morning or late afternoon - that's when day-trippers from nearby St. Moritz/Maloja are thinnest and the lake is at its most peaceful for photography.
- Access the lake via the well-marked hiking trail from the Maloja/Maloja Pass area; the route is a straightforward alpine path (suitable for families) so plan on a short hike rather than driving right up to the shore.
- Don't skip the short loop above the lake: a brief ascent from the shore gives much better panoramic views of the valley and surrounding peaks that many visitors miss.
