How to Get to Labasa
Labasa is reached by domestic flight into Labasa Airport (LBS) from Nadi or Suva, with short taxi transfers into town. There is no rail service; local buses and taxis provide island transport but frequencies are lower than on Viti Levu.
Labasa Airport (LBS): Labasa on Vanua Levu is served by domestic flights from Nadi and Suva (Fiji Link/other domestic carriers). Flights from Nadi to Labasa are typically under an hour; from the airport it’s a short taxi ride into Labasa town (10-15 minutes).
Savusavu Airport (SVU) and others: Nearby Savusavu has its own airport (SVU) for flights from Nadi; use flights if you prefer speed over longer ferry/road options between islands.
Train: There is no rail system on Fiji’s islands.
Bus / Minibus: On Vanua Levu, local buses and passenger vans run between towns such as Labasa and Savusavu; services are less frequent than on Viti Levu and schedules can be irregular. Taxis and private transfers are commonly used for reliable point-to-point travel.
