About KV10

KV10 is a tomb in the Valley of the Kings on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor, part of the New Kingdom-era burial landscape. It is one of many numbered tombs catalogued by Egyptologists in the valley.

The tomb is noted in archaeological records for its excavation history and for finds recorded by early explorers and later research teams. Public access to many Valley tombs is restricted and varies with conservation needs.

KV10 dates to the New Kingdom period and was recorded during systematic clearances and excavations of the valley. Like other tombs in the area, it has undergone periods of excavation, documentation, and conservation.

The tomb sits within the Valley of the Kings on the west bank of Luxor, within the archaeological zone that contains royal and high-status burials from Egypt’s New Kingdom.

Getting There & Around

How to Get to KV10

From Luxor: Cross the Nile to the West Bank by ferry or taxi, then take a short local taxi (or join a guided tour) to the Valley of the Kings compound, located west of Luxor temple. The main site is about a 20-30 minute drive from central Luxor.

Tips for Visiting KV10

  • KV10 is frequently closed to the public; check with the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities or a licensed Luxor guide before planning a visit.
  • Hire an Egyptologist or licensed guide at the West Bank entrance - they can clarify which tombs are accessible that day and explain the complex reuse history of KV10.
  • Wear a headlamp if a tomb is open - many side chambers are dim and uneven underfoot.
