How to Get to Kusa-Senrigahama #
Kusa-Senrigahama (Kusasenri) is accessed from Aso town. From JR Aso Station take a local bus toward Kusasenri (about 20-30 minutes) or hire a taxi. By car, follow Route 57 from Aso city center and then local roads up to the Kusasenri parking area-about a 20-30 minute drive from central Aso.
Tips for Visiting Kusa-Senrigahama #
- Approach from the Aso city side and park at the Kusasenri parking lot to avoid a long walk across boggy grass after rain.
- Bring a windproof layer; the plateau sits inside Aso caldera and the wind can be relentless even on warm days.
- Walk the rim path around the crater lake for the best changing perspectives; the western side has fewer visitors early morning.
