Kumu is the main building of the Art Museum of Estonia, located in Kadriorg Park in Tallinn. The museum opened in 2006 and is one of the largest and most important art museums in Estonia and the Baltic region.
Kumu presents historical and contemporary Estonian art, with permanent displays tracing art from the 18th century to modern times plus temporary international exhibitions. The building includes galleries, an auditorium, education spaces and a rooftop terrace overlooking Kadriorg Park.
The museum was built to consolidate several older collections and to provide modern exhibition and conservation facilities. It serves as the national centre for exhibitions, research and public programmes in visual arts.
Kumu stands in Kadriorg Park, a short distance east of Tallinn’s Old Town and within the city’s principal cultural and diplomatic district.
