How to Get to Kuakata National Park #
From Dhaka: overnight bus or domestic flight to Barisal or Kuakata-adjacent towns, then a local bus, rickshaw or hired car to the park. Patuakhali and Kuakata town are the nearest transport hubs; the final stretch to beaches and park gates is by local road.
Tips for Visiting Kuakata National Park #
- Rise early to stand on the long Kuakata beach for both sunrise and sunset - it's one of the few places in Bangladesh where both can be seen over the sea.
- Combine a visit to the national park with a short trip to Kuakata town for lodgings and local fish markets.
- Avoid the monsoon months (June-September) when the beach can be eroded and low-lying tracks are waterlogged.
