Kowloon Peak
Mountain Prominent Hong Kong hill offering panoramic city views
A steep Hong Kong peak in Kwun Tong District, known to hikers for challenging trails and wide views over Kowloon, nearby reservoirs and Victoria Harbour on clear days.
Kowloon Peak, locally known as Fei Ngo Shan, is a prominent summit in the Kwun Tong District of Hong Kong and one of the highest hills in the Kowloon area. It reaches approximately 602 metres and is a noted local landmark for hiking and viewpoints.
The peak’s ridges and cliffs provide panoramic views over Kowloon, Victoria Harbour and parts of the New Territories on clear days, attracting walkers and photographers. Several trails of varying difficulty lead to the summit, and some sections are steep and rocky, requiring good footwear and care.
Historically the hill has been a natural landmark within Hong Kong’s urban fringe rather than a site of major built development; over time it has become integrated into local country park and recreation use. Trail maintenance and signage have been developed as part of Hong Kong’s hiking infrastructure.
Geographically Kowloon Peak sits in northeastern Kowloon within the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, rising above the urban districts to the south and east and forming part of the region’s protected country parkland.

Tips for Visiting Kowloon Peak #
- Start a hike very early (pre-dawn if you plan sunrise) to enjoy cooler conditions and spectacular views over Kowloon and Victoria Harbour before the city haze and crowds build up.
- Use the established Fei Ngo Shan/Fei Ngo Shan Road access points (the usual trailheads from the Kowloon side) rather than trying unmarked shortcuts; established routes give clearer footing and better, safer viewpoints.
- Avoid weekend afternoons when local hikers and photographers concentrate on the summit; weekday mornings see fewer people and more uninterrupted views toward Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and Tolo Harbour.
