How to Get to Korla

Korla (库尔勒) is served directly by Korla Airport (KRL) for domestic flights and by Korla Railway Station on the Southern Xinjiang rail corridor. For international arrivals you'll often change planes at Ürümqi (URC) and continue to Korla by air, train or coach.

By Air

Korla Airport (KRL): Korla Airport (库尔勒机场, KRL) is the closest airport to the city and handles domestic flights to Urumqi and other Xinjiang cities. From the airport you can take an airport shuttle bus into town (typically around CNY 8-12, about 25-35 minutes depending on traffic) or a taxi (roughly CNY 40-60, 20-30 minutes).

Ürümqi Diwopu International Airport (URC): Ürümqi is the regional aviation hub; regular domestic flights connect URC with Korla and other Chinese cities. If you fly into Ürümqi you can catch a direct domestic flight to Korla (flight time ~1 hr) or travel overland by train or coach (see train/bus card). Flights between Ürümqi and Korla typically range from around CNY 300-800 depending on season and booking time.

By Train & Bus

Train: Korla Railway Station (库尔勒站) is on the Southern Xinjiang rail corridor and handles conventional long-distance services to Ürümqi and destinations further west. Trains to/from Ürümqi are a common choice; conventional services vary (overnight sleepers and hard/soft seats), with travel times typically several hours and fares ranging widely by class - expect lower-end fares for hard seats and higher fares for soft sleepers. Bus: Korla has a long-distance coach network from the city’s main coach station serving Ürümqi and regional towns across Xinjiang. Coaches to Ürümqi commonly take around 6-9 hours and usually cost in the order of CNY 80-150 depending on service and vehicle type; daytime and overnight departures are available.

How to Get Around Korla

Korla is most easily navigated by taxi or DiDi for convenience, with cheap city buses serving routine local trips. For intercity travel use coaches or conventional trains; flights to/from Ürümqi are the fastest option when time is limited.
