Koncerthuset

Koncerthuset is the principal concert hall of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) located in Copenhagen’s DR Byen/Ørestad district. The building was completed in the 2000s and forms the core of DR’s cultural facilities.

The complex contains multiple auditoria including a large main hall used for symphonic concerts and smaller chamber halls for intimate performances and recordings. It functions both as a public concert venue and as a production facility for broadcast and recorded music.

Erected as part of the DR Byen project to consolidate the Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s facilities, the concert hall opened in the 2000s and established a permanent home for DR’s orchestral and broadcast activities.

Koncerthuset sits in the Ørestad district on Amager, south of Copenhagen’s historic centre, within the broader DR Byen media campus.

• Resident orchestra: Serves as the concert hall of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and is the home venue for the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
• Architectural note: Designed by architect Jean Nouvel and completed as part of the DR Byen cultural complex in the 2000s.
