Komezuka is a compact volcanic cone on the slopes of Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. It is noted for its near‑perfect circular form and visible crater.
A short walk brings visitors close to the cone’s rim and offers unobstructed views of the cone’s circular profile and the surrounding Aso caldera landscape. The site is popular with visitors to the broader Mount Aso area who are exploring the Kusasenri plain and nearby viewpoints.
Komezuka is a product of Mount Aso’s volcanic activity and formed as a scoria or cinder cone during past eruptions of the Aso volcanic complex. It has remained a distinct geomorphological feature within the caldera.
