How to Get to Kodachadri #
Trailheads are commonly accessed from Kollur (about 55 km from Udupi) or from the small village of Hoskeri. Regular buses and private taxis run from Udupi and Shimoga; the Kollur route is longer but offers a well-trodden trail with guides and basic tea stalls.
Tips for Visiting Kodachadri #
- Start the trek from the village of Hoskeri or Kollur depending on which route (longer Kollur route has more varied scenery).
- Go early in the morning to catch cloud forests and to avoid afternoon monsoon squalls during June-September.
- Hire a local guide for the final ascent - the trail can be confusing and local guides know the best stretches of Halakki tribal viewpoints.
- Carry cash - village shops and informal guides expect payment in rupees; mobile signal is intermittent.

October-February (post-monsoon) gives the clearest summit views and comfortable hiking conditions.
