Kodachadri is a mountain peak in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India, reaching approximately 1,343 metres in elevation. It is noted as a significant hill within the region and a popular destination for trekkers and nature visitors.

Trail networks through the surrounding forests lead to the summit, where visitors can view the Ghats and, on very clear days, distant glimpses of the Arabian Sea. The routes traverse protected and relatively biodiverse forested landscapes.

Historically the area has been forested and has long attracted pilgrims and walkers; in modern times it has been managed as part of regional conservation efforts and as a trekking destination. The peak and its approaches contain a mix of natural and cultural markers connected with local communities.

Kodachadri sits in the central Western Ghats near the coastal escarpment of Karnataka, within the broader Mookambika wildlife and catchment area and accessible from nearby towns and pilgrimage centres in the region.

  • Elevation: Rises to about 1,343 metres above sea level and is one of the higher peaks in the central Western Ghats of Karnataka.
  • Environment: Located within protected forest areas, trekking routes pass through evergreen and semi-evergreen woodland with biodiversity typical of the Western Ghats.

Tips for Visiting Kodachadri #
