About Ko Mak

Ko Mak is a small island in Trat province, eastern Thailand, located in the Gulf of Thailand. The island is relatively flat and known for low-density tourism, beaches and agricultural land uses such as coconut plots.

Visitors find beaches, small resorts and local farming landscapes rather than large commercial developments. The island’s infrastructure supports quieter stays and a slower-paced visitor experience focused on beach and local village life.

Ko Mak developed from a farming and fishing economy into a small tourism destination over recent decades while retaining much local land use. Its limited size has helped keep development moderate.

How to Get to Ko Mak

Ko Mak is reached by boat from Trat province. Passenger ferries and speedboats run from Laem Ngop/Trat piers (the mainland gateway near Trat town) to Ko Mak; schedules vary by season so check local operators in Trat or Laem Ngop. From Trat town you reach the piers by local taxi or songthaew; on arrival at Ko Mak the pier is a short walk into the beach village.
