Kluane / Wrangell-St. Elias / Glacier Bay / Tatshenshini-Alsek is a transboundary natural property that links large national and provincial parks across southwestern Yukon and northern British Columbia in Canada with adjacent protected areas in Alaska, United States. It protects some of North America’s largest icefields, major glacier systems and high mountain massifs.

The area contains extensive glaciated terrain and high peaks, including Mount Logan at 5,959 metres, and a range of ecosystems from alpine and tundra to coastal fjords. The property is valued for its scale of intact wilderness, complex glacial geomorphology and habitats for large-ranging species.

Visitor activities are concentrated at access points and include flightseeing, mountaineering, glacier travel, rafting and remote wilderness camping; much of the property is only accessible by air or by long overland travel and is managed for backcountry use and scientific research.

The serial property comprises the separate park units of Kluane, Wrangell-St. Elias, Glacier Bay and Tatshenshini-Alsek, each managed under national or provincial park regimes but cooperating for cross-border conservation.

  • Transboundary network: The serial property is transboundary, combining Canadian parks in Yukon and British Columbia with U.S. parks in Alaska to protect contiguous icefields and mountain systems.
  • Highest peak in Canada: Mount Logan is the highest peak in Canada at 5,959 metres and is a major objective for technical mountaineering in the region.
