How to Get to Kitsap Peninsula #
The Kitsap Peninsula lies west of Seattle across Puget Sound and is commonly reached by Washington State Ferries from downtown Seattle. Major ferry routes are Seattle-Bainbridge Island (roughly 35 minutes ferry) and Seattle-Bremerton (roughly 60 minutes); ferries depart from Colman Dock in downtown Seattle and land at terminals with short walks into Bainbridge or Bremerton town centres.
If driving, you can reach southern and central Kitsap by crossing the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on State Route 16 from Tacoma. Once on the peninsula, state highways and local roads connect Bainbridge, Bremerton and other towns; travel times vary with origin and route.

- Use the Washington State Ferries (for example Seattle-Bremerton or Seattle-Bainbridge Island routes) as your primary access option from Seattle-ferries drop you right onto the peninsula and avoid long bridge drives.
- Avoid weekend mornings in summer if you want quieter beaches and trails; midweek or late afternoons tend to be less congested when day‑trippers from Seattle are absent.
- Plan fuel and provisioning around Bremerton, Poulsbo or Port Orchard-services on parts of the peninsula are limited, so top up before driving into more remote sections.
