How to Get to Kitimat#
Kitimat is served by the Terrace-Kitimat regional airport (YXT) with connections to Vancouver; the airport is the usual arrival point for air travellers. Ground connections from Terrace/YXT by shuttle, taxi or rental car complete the journey.
Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat (YXT): YXT is the main regional airport serving Kitimat and Terrace. There are scheduled flights to Vancouver (YVR) and other regional centres; drive time from YXT to Kitimat is about 50-70 minutes by road and taxis or shuttles are available (taxi/shuttle roughly CAD 80-120).
Prince Rupert (YPR) / Vancouver (YVR): Larger hubs like Vancouver require a connecting flight into YXT or a long drive/ferry combination. From Vancouver expect a flight of about 1-1.5 hours to YXT and then the ground transfer to Kitimat.
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service directly into Kitimat.
