Kitigan Zibi

Kitigan Zibi is an Algonquin First Nation reserve and community in the Outaouais region of western Quebec, Canada, home to the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg band. It is an active Indigenous community with local governance and services.

Inside the reserve and its immediate surroundings people will find community facilities, band administration, and access to river and forest landscapes used for hunting, fishing and seasonal activities. Outdoor recreation along nearby waterways and trails is a common reason people travel to the area.

Algonquin people have occupied the broader region for centuries; the community at Kitigan Zibi was formalized under Canadian reserve policies in the 19th century and has continued to evolve as a political and cultural centre for the band. Local governance today manages community services and land use.

The reserve sits adjacent to the town of Maniwaki in the Outaouais region of western Quebec, along the Gatineau River corridor. The setting is forested with rivers and lakes typical of the Laurentian foothills.
