Kisimul Castle is a medieval fortress built on a rocky islet in the bay at Castlebay on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. It served as the historic stronghold and seat of the Clan MacNeil.
The castle occupies a single rocky islet and is reached by a short boat trip from Castlebay; the surrounding sea provides natural defense. Its stone curtain walls and central keep are the principal visible features and are compact in scale.
Historically the site was the clan seat for the MacNeils and was maintained as a fortified residence through the late medieval and early modern periods. The castle has been conserved and is treated as an important local historic monument.
Geographically the islet sits immediately offshore from Castlebay on the south coast of Barra in the Outer Hebrides; the nearest town is Castlebay and the wider island landscape is coastal moor and machair.

Kisimul Castle sits on a tidal islet off Castlebay on the Isle of Barra (Outer Hebrides). Regular scheduled Caledonian MacBrayne ferries operate seasonally to Castlebay from the Scottish mainland/island network, and Loganair operates scheduled flights into Barra Airport from Glasgow; Barra Airport is a short taxi ride (roughly 3 miles / ~5 km) into Castlebay. From the Castlebay slipway it is a very short boat transfer (a few minutes) to the castle; the slipway is a short walk from the village and harbor.
