King’s Square is a public urban square in the Uptown district of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. It dates to the period immediately after Loyalist settlement in the late 18th century and has been a civic open space since the city’s founding.
A compact grassy square with paved paths and seating that functions as a local gathering place for pedestrians and small public events. The square sits amid shops, offices and historic buildings and is commonly included in walking tours of uptown Saint John.
The square was laid out as part of the city plan established by Loyalist settlers in the 1780s and has served as a municipal green space since that time. Its use has remained civic and recreational rather than being dominated by permanent commercial development.
