How to Get to Kiawah Island, South Carolina #

Kiawah Island lies about 25-30 miles (40-50 km) southwest of downtown Charleston, South Carolina. By car it is most direct to take US‑17 south out of Charleston and follow signs via SC‑700/Johns Island roads onto Kiawah Island Parkway; typical drive time from downtown Charleston is about 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. From Charleston International Airport the drive is roughly the same (about 30-40 miles by road).

There is no regular city bus service that goes onto the island; most visitors arrive by car, taxi, or private shuttle. Once on the island, beaches and resort facilities are reached by short walks from parking areas or by internal island shuttles.
