Khosrov Ruins

Khosrov refers to the Khosrov Forest area in Ararat Province of Armenia, a protected forest-reserve known for its biodiversity and archaeological remains. The reserve preserves native woodlands, steppe and a range of flora and fauna.

The area contains natural habitats and historical sites, including traces of ancient settlements and cultural landmarks, which contribute to its conservation importance.

The modern protected status was established in the 20th century to conserve both ecological values and cultural heritage in the region.

Khosrov Forest lies in Ararat Province in western Armenia, in the landscape south of the Ararat plain and in the foothills near Artashat.

Khosrov Reserve is in Ararat Province of Armenia. From Yerevan, drive south along the M2 and then follow local roads toward the reserve (about 1-2 hours depending on the chosen entrance). Access to interior trails often requires a vehicle and, in some areas, a guide.

• Carry binoculars for wildlife watching; Khosrov is known for roe deer, wild boar, and diverse birdlife.
• Hire a licensed guide for visits into less-visited sectors; some routes cross remote terrain.
• Bring sturdy boots: trails can be rocky and uneven, and weather changes quickly.
