How to Get to Katoomba
Katoomba in the Blue Mountains is easily reached by train from Sydney's Central Station (NSW TrainLink Blue Mountains line) or by car from Sydney Airport (SYD). Trains are frequent and put you right in the town centre at Katoomba Station.
Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD): The main airport for reaching the Blue Mountains. From SYD take the Airport Link or a taxi to Central Station, then NSW TrainLink services to Katoomba; total travel time door-to-door is typically about 2-2.5 hours depending on connections. Renting a car at SYD is also common and the drive to Katoomba takes about 1.5-2 hours.
Bathurst Airport (BHS) / Regional options: Bathurst is a smaller regional airport; driving from Bathurst to Katoomba takes around 1-1.5 hours. Most international visitors use SYD for the widest range of services.
Train: NSW TrainLink’s Blue Mountains line runs from Sydney Central to Katoomba (and beyond). Journey time from Central is about 2 hours by intercity train; use an Opal card or buy a ticket for the intercity service. Katoomba Station is in the town centre.
