Karlsaue

Karlsaue is a historic public park in Kassel, Hesse, Germany, combining formal baroque elements and landscaped parkland along the Fulda River. It contains the prominent baroque Orangerie building as its focal point.

Visitors encounter wide lawns, formal garden layouts, tree avenues and waterside paths that are used for walking, seasonal events and passive recreation. The baroque Orangerie anchors the park and is a frequent destination for cultural visitors and photographers.

The park and its Orangerie date to the early 18th century when landscape and leisure spaces were laid out for the Kassel court; the grounds have since been adapted for public use while retaining historic garden structures.

Karlsaue occupies an island-like area formed by branches of the Fulda River within the city of Kassel in Hesse, easily reached from the city centre and located along the Fulda’s urban corridor.
