How to Get to Kariba, Zimbabwe

Kariba is best reached by a short domestic flight into Kariba Airport or by road from Harare (2.5-4 hours). Road travel is the most common option for visitors, while scheduled flights can be irregular.

By Air

Kariba Airport (KAB): Kariba has a small airport serving regional flights and charters. Scheduled domestic flights (when operating) from Harare take about 45-60 minutes; taxis from the airstrip to town are short (around 5-10 minutes) and typically cost about US$5-15.

Harare International Airport (HRE, now Robert Gabriel Mugabe International until renamed): The main gateway for international travellers. Road transfer to Kariba is common: a private car or shuttle takes about 2.5-3.5 hours (approximately 220-250 km) and fares vary widely by operator, or you can fly the short domestic hop when schedules permit.

By Train & Bus
