About Karfiguéla waterfalls

The Cascades de Karfiguéla are a stepped series of waterfalls along the Komoé River, about 12 km north west of Banfora. They are significant enough that the wider Cascades Region takes its name from them, and they are widely regarded as one of Burkina Faso’s key tourism sites.

Water levels vary strongly through the year. The flow peaks during the rainy season, from June to September, when the falls are at their most dramatic.

Outside the peak flow months, the cascades can be lower and calmer, making the landscape feel more open and easier to appreciate up close, though with less roar and spray.
