Karaiskakis Stadium
Stadium Athletics and football stadium; Olympiacos' home ground
Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus hosts Olympiacos FC fixtures and intense Greek football crowds; supporters attend league matches, cup games and occasional concert events.
Karaiskakis Stadium (Georgios Karaiskakis) is a major football stadium in Piraeus, in the Attica region of Greece, and the traditional home of Olympiacos Football Club. The modern facility dates from a comprehensive reconstruction completed in the early 2000s.
The stadium offers a compact, steeply raked seating bowl that places spectators close to the playing surface and is configured for high-intensity football matches and club events. Match days generate significant local activity around the stadium, including transport and crowd management.
An earlier stadium stood on the site for much of the 20th century; the ground has been redeveloped several times and was completely rebuilt prior to use in international competitions in the 2000s. It retains the name of the Greek war hero Georgios Karaiskakis.
The stadium is located in the Neo Faliro area of Piraeus, within the port and greater Athens conurbation, and is accessible from central Athens and Piraeus by public transport.
- Capacity and tenant: Home stadium of Olympiacos FC and rebuilt for international events, the modern venue seats roughly 32,000 spectators after reconstruction in the early 2000s.
