How to Get to Kalmar

Kalmar is well served by a small local airport (KLR) and by regional rail via Kalmar C. For international travellers, flights via Stockholm with a connecting train or a domestic flight to Kalmar are the usual options.

By Air

Kalmar Öland Airport (KLR): Kalmar’s airport is just outside the city (about 5-10 minutes by road) and offers domestic flights - landing here provides the quickest access to Kalmar. From the terminal there are local buses and taxis to Kalmar city centre; the bus ride takes around 10-20 minutes and a taxi is typically 10-15 minutes.

Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) / Bromma (BMA): For international arrivals, Stockholm airports are the main gateways. From Stockholm you can travel to Kalmar by direct SJ or regional trains (journey roughly 4-4.5 hours) or by flight into Kalmar; train fares vary by service and booking time (book via SJ or regional operators).

By Train & Bus

Train: Kalmar C (Kalmar Central) is on the regional rail network with direct trains to Nässjö and connections to Stockholm, Linköping and Malmö via interchange. Journey times to Stockholm are about 4 hours by rail; regional fares depend on operator and time of booking.
