How to Get to Junciana#
Junciana is a small rural locality usually accessed via Ávila or via Madrid-Barajas (MAD) with onward regional transport. Estación de Ávila and the Ávila bus station are the main transfer hubs for reaching the area.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas (MAD): The main international gateway for Junciana. From MAD take Cercanías to Madrid Atocha (≈25-30 min, ~€3) then connect to Renfe Media Distancia or an Avanza bus to Ávila - total travel to the Ávila area is about 1-1.5 hours, with overall costs typically €8-€15 depending on connections.
Salamanca-Matacán (SLM): Regional airport with limited flights. From SLM reach Salamanca city centre by taxi/shuttle in ~15-20 minutes (taxi ~€10-€20); from Salamanca you can take regional buses or trains toward Ávila and surrounding towns - allow an extra 30-90 minutes and fares of roughly €3-€12 depending on route.
Train: Estación de Ávila is the nearest mainline rail hub. Renfe Media Distancia trains from Madrid to Ávila take about 1-1.5 hours and cost roughly €6-€12. From Ávila you’ll need a taxi or local bus to reach Junciana.

These small rural localities are most convenient by car; trains and buses will get you to Ávila but final connections often require a taxi. If not driving, coordinate buses and pre-book taxis for the last leg.
- Rental car (€30-€70/day) - Renting a car is the simplest and most flexible way to reach Junciana and to explore the rural surroundings. Roads are generally passable though may narrow near the village. Booking a car in Madrid or Ávila provides the best selection and flexibility.
- Regional bus (€1.50-€6) - Regional buses to Ávila are frequent; onward services to very small villages can be infrequent and require timetable planning. Buses are cheap when available, with local fares commonly between €1.50 and €6. Check weekend schedules which may be reduced.
- Trains (Renfe Media Distancia) (€6-€12) - Renfe services to Estación de Ávila from Madrid provide a reliable connection to the provincial capital. As with other small villages, combine rail with a taxi or bus for the final leg. Expect fares of around €6-€12 to Ávila.
- Taxi & rideshare (€12-€40) - Taxis are practical for the last mile when public transport doesn’t serve the village directly. They are more expensive but save time and hassle, particularly with luggage or late arrivals. Rideshare apps have limited coverage in rural areas.
- Bicycle (€6-€20/day) - Cycling around Junciana can be enjoyable on low-traffic roads; however, local hire options are limited. Rent bikes in Ávila for longer excursions and be prepared for hills and some unpaved tracks. Bring water and repair supplies.
