How to Get to Jōgashima #
Take the Keikyū Kurihama Line to Misakiguchi Station on the Miura Peninsula; from Misakiguchi you can catch a local bus that serves Jōgashima (services run from the station toward the coast) or walk roughly 30-40 minutes along coastal roads to reach the island/park area.
By car Jōgashima is on the southern tip of the Miura Peninsula - it is roughly 40 km south of central Yokohama (about 45-60 minutes by car) via Route 16 and connecting prefectural roads to the peninsula and the island access road.
Tips for Visiting Jōgashima #
- Aim for sunrise or sunset at Jōgashima: the headland's viewpoints give the best light and-on a clear day-views toward Mount Fuji.
- Use the pedestrian bridge from Misaki (Jogashima Bridge) to reach the island; park or arrive by public transport at Misaki Port and follow signs into Jogashima Park.
- Don't skip the coastal walk around the southern tip and the lighthouse area-these give wide sea views and tide-pool exploration opportunities that many day-trippers miss.
