Ještěd

Ještěd is a mountain crowned by an iconic combined hotel and television tower near Liberec in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. The summit reaches 1,012 metres above sea level and the tower-hotel is a landmark of 20th-century Czech architecture.

The summit complex houses a restaurant and public viewing areas and is a destination for panoramic views across northern Bohemia. On the mountain there are marked hiking routes and winter ski slopes, and a cable car connects the Horní Hanychov area to the top.

The distinctive tower-hotel was designed and built in the late 1960s and early 1970s as a single integrated structure to serve broadcasting and tourist functions. It replaced earlier summit buildings and has been prized for its engineering and aesthetic qualities.

Geographically the mountain sits about 10 km north of the city of Liberec, on the Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge, rising above the surrounding foothills and making it a visible landmark from the town.
