How to Get to Jérémie

Jérémie is reached primarily overland from Port-au-Prince (Toussaint Louverture International Airport, PAP). A small local airstrip exists but has only irregular domestic/charter service; most international arrivals route through PAP and continue by bus or private transfer.

By Air

Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP): The main international gateway for Haiti is Port-au-Prince’s Toussaint Louverture (PAP). From PAP you can reach Jérémie by road: public shared vans or private car transfers take roughly 4.5-6 hours depending on roads; expect around US$40-70 for a private transfer and lower fares (often US$10-20) for shared vans when available.

(Local air service limited): Jérémie has a small local airstrip (Jérémie Airport) used irregularly by domestic and charter flights. Scheduled services are limited and change frequently; if a seat is available a short domestic flight cuts travel time considerably, but check current schedules with local carriers or travel agents.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no passenger rail service serving Jérémie.

Bus / Road: Long-distance road travel is the main option. Buses and shared vans (called ‘colectivos’ or ‘transports publics’) run between Port-au-Prince and Jérémie; journey times are roughly 4.5-6 hours depending on road and weather. Prices for shared vans and buses can be low (often in the US$10-25 range); formal schedules are limited so plan a full travel day and confirm departure points in Port-au-Prince ahead of time.
