Jeanne d’Arc by Emmanuel Frémiet is a bronze equestrian statue of Joan of Arc located at Place des Pyramides in central Paris. The work was installed in the 19th century and is a prominent public monument.
The statue depicts Joan of Arc on horseback holding a banner and stands on a raised stone pedestal at a prominent city junction. It is frequently photographed by visitors to the nearby Louvre, the Tuileries and surrounding streets.
Emmanuel Frémiet created the bronze statue in the 1870s and it was installed at Place des Pyramides in 1874. It was part of a wider 19th-century interest in national heroic figures and public monuments in Paris.
Placed at Place des Pyramides beside Rue de Rivoli, the statue sits on the north side of the Tuileries and is within easy walking distance of the Louvre and central Paris attractions.
