Jafa National Park is a large protected area in Amazonas state, Brazil, established to conserve Amazonian rainforest and aquatic ecosystems. It protects extensive terra firme forest, várzea flooded forest, and numerous channels and lakes associated with the Rio Jafa and its tributaries.

The park is one of Brazil’s larger conservation units and is important for riverine and forest biodiversity, including jaguars, river dolphins and many fish and bird species. Recreational visitation is possible but infrastructure is minimal, so most trips are expedition-style.

Jafa National Park was created in 1980 to preserve a sizable tract of intact Amazon forest and aquatic habitats. It lies in the central Amazon region, approximately 300 km northwest of Manaus by riverine routes and is accessed primarily by boat.

  • Access: Access is primarily by river; there are no through roads linking the park to major highways, so visits are organised by boat from river communities.
  • Scale and importance: Covers a very large area of Amazon forest and freshwater systems and is one of Brazil's core protected areas for Amazonian biodiversity.
