Jasna Góra Monastery

Jasna Góra Monastery is a Pauline monastery in the city of Częstochowa in southern Poland, best known for housing the icon of the Black Madonna. It is one of Poland’s principal pilgrimage sites and a central location for Catholic devotion and national religious ceremonies.

The complex contains the chapel with the Black Madonna icon, the basilica and fortified monastery buildings, plus museum displays of votive offerings and religious artifacts. Pilgrims and visitors come for worship, to view the icon and to tour the historic compound.
