Japan Asia Airways was a small regional international carrier focused on routes between Japan and Taiwan and operated under the umbrella of Japan Airlines; from a traveler’s perspective it functioned as a short-haul international operator rather than a long‑haul or domestic-only airline. The carrier’s services were integrated with JAL’s network and partner reach, but Japan Asia Airways is no longer an operating airline-its services were folded back into Japan Airlines in 2008, so it is not available for booking today.

Where Japan Asia Airways Flew

Japan Asia Airways operated mainly between major Japanese gateways and Taiwan, using Narita (NRT), Kansai (KIX) and Chubu Centrair (NGO) in Japan with Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) as its international destination. The carrier’s network was concentrated on short international Japan-Taiwan links-Tokyo-Taipei being the most notable-and its services were integrated with Japan Airlines for onward connections and partner access via JAL’s alliances.

Tips for Flying Japan Asia Airways

  • Japan Asia Airways ceased operations in 2008; for current travel between Japan and Taiwan book Japan Airlines or another active carrier and verify the operating carrier on your itinerary.
  • If you find older tickets or references to Japan Asia Airways, confirm mileage credit and refund rules with the operating carrier (typically Japan Airlines) before assuming benefits apply.
  • When searching schedules or fares, look for services under Japan Airlines and use current airport codes (Narita NRT, Kansai KIX, Chubu Centrair NGO, Taiwan Taoyuan TPE) rather than expecting active JAA-branded flights.
