Jaldapara National Park

Jaldapara National Park is a protected wildlife area in northern West Bengal, India, established to conserve wildlife and natural grassland habitats. It is particularly associated with populations of the Indian one-horned rhinoceros and Asian elephant.

The park offers grassland and riverine forest habitats over a landscape of tall elephant grass and Sal woodland, where visitors commonly go on guided jeep or elephant safaris to observe rhinos, elephants, deer, and a variety of birds. Road-based safaris and guided walks are the principal visitor activities; photographic hides are limited.

The protected area was created to safeguard regional wildlife populations and has been managed under state conservation authorities; management has emphasized anti-poaching and habitat maintenance. Over time the site has been developed with ranger infrastructure and visitor zones to balance protection with controlled tourism.

Jaldapara lies in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya in northern West Bengal, close to the border with Bhutan. The park is accessible from nearby towns in Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts and sits on lowland river plains and floodplain grasslands.
