Jakupica range Mountains

The Jakupica range is a mountainous massif in central North Macedonia characterised by high peaks, alpine limestone terrain and steep ridgelines. It contains several summits, the best-known of which is Solunska Glava at roughly 2,540 metres.

The range offers mountain hiking, seasonal alpine pastures and viewpoints over surrounding valleys and lake basins; routes vary from steep climbs to longer ridge traverses. Its higher reaches feature typical mountainous flora and rugged rock formations.

Historically the area has been used for pastoralism and local resource use; it forms part of the central mountainous backbone of the country and has been a natural boundary between regional districts. Modern recreational use focuses on hiking and local mountaineering.

Geographically Jakupica lies in central North Macedonia, forming a notable highland area within the country’s interior and visible from nearby towns and transport corridors.
