How to Get to İznik
İznik (ancient Nicaea) in Bursa Province is most easily reached from Istanbul via Bursa - either by intercity coach or by car. There is no direct high‑speed rail to İznik; buses and minibuses (dolmuş) are the common onward links from Bursa.
Istanbul Airport (IST) / Sabiha Gökçen (SAW): İznik is commonly reached from Istanbul airports; from IST or SAW you can travel by car or bus to Bursa and then onward to İznik. Total travel time door-to-door is commonly 2-3 hours or more, depending on traffic.
Bursa Yenişehir Airport (YEI): A closer regional airport (service varies); from Bursa you have road or bus connections to İznik (about 1-1.5 hours by road).
Train: İznik is not served by Turkey’s main high-speed rail lines. The nearest rail hub is in Bursa (and further afield in İzmit or Bandırma), but rail is not the primary way to reach İznik.
Bus / Dolmuş: The usual route is Istanbul → Bursa by bus or ferry+bus, then a regional bus or dolmuş from Bursa to İznik (about 45-70 minutes). Intercity coaches from Istanbul to Bursa run frequently; Bursa-İznik minibuses depart regularly from Bursa’s bus stations for modest fares.
