Villa Pisani is an 18th-century monumental villa on the Brenta Canal, built for the Venetian Pisani family and now operated as a museum. It is one of the major examples of grand Venetian villa architecture on the Riviera del Brenta.
The villa is known for its richly decorated reception rooms, long ceremonial facade facing the canal and extensive formal gardens that include a historic maze. Interiors contain period frescoes and stucco work; the garden layout and canal approach remain important elements of the site.
Constructed in the 18th century for the Pisani family, the estate later passed to state ownership and was converted into a public museum to preserve its architecture, decoration and landscaped grounds. The complex has been conserved to display the villa’s original function as a noble riverside residence.
The villa stands along the Brenta Canal in the town of Stra, between Venice and Padua, and is accessible by road from both cities as part of the Riviera del Brenta.
