Istanbul Aquarium

Istanbul Aquarium is a large public aquarium located in the Florya district on the European side of Istanbul, opened in 2011 and organised around themed geographic and ecological zones. It presents a sequence of exhibits that move visitors through different marine environments and displays a wide range of fish, invertebrates and other aquatic species.

Exhibit highlights typically include large display tanks and immersive viewing areas designed around regional and global marine habitats, with educational displays and running programmes for families. The facility is designed as both an aquarium and an educational attraction with visitor amenities.

The aquarium was developed as a modern, themed facility and opened in the early 2010s to add a major public aquarium to the city’s cultural and family attractions. Since opening it has become part of a mixed-use leisure area in Florya.

The complex sits on Istanbul’s European shore in the Florya neighbourhood, near the Marmara coast and the transport routes serving the Bakırköy/Florya area; it is accessible from central Istanbul by road and public transport.
