Isay
Island Small Hebridean island with crofting heritage
Isay is a small island in the Inner Hebrides, located off the northwest coast of the Isle of Skye. It is currently uninhabited and noted for coastal scenery and wildlife.
The island offers exposed shorelines, seabird habitat and simple coastal landscape rather than visitor infrastructure. People who visit do so for wildlife observation, sea angling or small-boat landings.
Isay has evidence of past human use but no permanent modern settlement; land use has included seasonal fishing and small-scale habitation at various times. Over time it has become effectively uninhabited.
The island lies in the waters off the northwest coast of Skye in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, reached by boat from the nearest Skye harbours.
- Access: No public facilities are available on the island; access generally requires a private boat or arranged charter from Skye.
