Ios

Ios is a Cycladic island in the South Aegean region of Greece, known for its beaches, whitewashed hilltop main town and active summer nightlife. The island is a regular stop on inter-island ferry routes in the Cyclades.

The island’s principal settlement, Chora, is clustered on a hillside with narrow lanes, tavernas and bars that attract evening crowds in summer. Sandy beaches such as Mylopotas on the western shore are popular for swimming and watersports during the day, while ferry links bring day-trippers and island-hopping visitors.

Ios also offers archaeological sites, traditional churches and quieter interior villages away from the main tourist strips.
