By car: from Dunseith, North Dakota, follow Highway 281 north to the international park entrance (about 6 miles/10 km); from Boissevain, Manitoba, access via Manitoba Highway 10. The garden straddles the border; bring identification for the international crossing.

- Cross the international boundary on foot to experience both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the gardens.
- Visit in early June when peonies and many spring bulbs are in bloom.
