How to Get to Iniö
Sandy Ground is a small beach settlement on the west coast of Anguilla. The nearest air gateways are Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) for regional arrivals and Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on Sint Maarten for most international flights; cross‑border ferries connect SXM to Anguilla.
Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA): AXA is Anguilla’s local airport handling regional flights from nearby Caribbean hubs. From AXA to Sandy Ground expect a taxi ride of roughly 15-20 minutes; fares are usually about $25-35 USD one-way. Car rental is available at or near the airport (daily rates typically start around $40-60 USD).
Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM): SXM on Sint Maarten is the main international gateway for visitors coming from overseas. From SXM take a taxi or shuttle to the ferry departure in Philipsburg/Marigot (around 15-30 minutes, taxi $15-30 USD) and catch a high-speed ferry to Blowing Point, Anguilla - ferries are about $25-35 USD one-way and take roughly 20-25 minutes. From Blowing Point a taxi to Sandy Ground is about 10-15 minutes and typically costs $10-20 USD.
Train: There is no train service on Anguilla (or on Sint Maarten). Trains are not part of travel planning for reaching Sandy Ground.
Bus: Anguilla does not have a formal island-wide public bus network. Shared minibuses and informal route taxis operate along the main coastal roads; fares are inexpensive (typically $2-5 USD per short hop). Taxis are the most reliable option for direct trips (see taxi details).
How to Get Around Iniö #
Iniö is a small island community; most travel revolves around walking, cycling and boats. There are scheduled ferries and small car ferries connecting Iniö with the larger islands and the mainland; local buses are limited and timetables tie into ferry departures.
