Independence Rock is a large granitic monolith in central Wyoming, United States, that served as a prominent landmark on the 19th-century Oregon-California Trail.

The formation gained prominence with Euro-American emigrant traffic from the 1830s through the 1860s, when wagon trains aimed to reach it by Independence Day as a timing landmark.
The rock sits along the Sweetwater River corridor in south-central Wyoming and is preserved within the Independence Rock State Historic Site, accessible from modern roads.
