Iijärvi is a freshwater lake in North Ostrobothnia in northern Finland. The name follows Finnish toponymy where “järvi” denotes a lake.
The lake sits within a boreal landscape of coniferous forest and wetlands typical of northern Finland; recreational activities where present commonly include seasonal fishing and small-boat use. Facilities and services vary by locality and many such lakes are accessed from forest roads or nearby settlements.
Formed by glacial and post-glacial processes that created Finland’s lake-rich terrain, the waterbody has long been part of local landscape use for fishing and seasonal travel. Documented archaeological or built heritage specific to this lake are not widely noted.
Geographically it lies in the northern Finnish lake district of North Ostrobothnia, surrounded by forest and peatland; the nearest administrative settlements are local municipalities of the region.
