Ibrox Stadium is a football stadium in the Ibrox district of Glasgow, Scotland, and the home ground of Rangers Football Club since the club moved there in 1899. The stadium is one of Scotland’s largest sports venues and has hosted domestic and international football matches.

The present stadium occupies the site of earlier stands and has been rebuilt and modernised in stages, including major redevelopment after safety incidents in the 20th century and further work to expand and modernise seating and facilities. The ground now offers all-seated stands, corporate boxes and fan facilities.

Ibrox sits on the south bank of the River Clyde about 2 to 3 kilometres west of Glasgow city centre, within a dense urban neighbourhood served by road, rail and subway links.

  • Capacity and Home Team: Home stadium of Rangers Football Club with a seated capacity of about 50,800 and modern spectator facilities after phased redevelopment across the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

How to Get to Ibrox Stadium #

Ibrox Stadium is in the Govan area of Glasgow. Take the Glasgow Subway to Ibrox station - the stadium is a very short walk from the subway exit (a few minutes). Numerous local bus services also run along Paisley Road West and nearby streets and stop within a short walk of the ground.

By car it is only a few kilometres (around 2-4 km) southwest of Glasgow city centre; approach via Paisley Road West/A739. Matchday parking is limited, so public transport or walking from central Glasgow is recommended.

Tips for Visiting Ibrox Stadium #

  • Use Ibrox subway station (on Glasgow's circular subway line) to arrive and depart on matchdays - it places you close to the main turnstiles and helps avoid much of the road congestion around the stadium.
  • Buy match tickets and official hospitality or guided-tour slots in advance; the stadium tour and museum run on non-matchdays and sell out at peak times, so prebooking saves waiting and disappointment.
  • On matchdays follow steward and police directions for segregated entry/exit routes rather than trying to shortcut through nearby streets; arriving at least 45-60 minutes before kickoff makes passing security and finding your seat far easier.

Best Time to Visit Ibrox Stadium #

For a quieter visit book a stadium tour during the summer off-season; attend match days only if you want the full, busy atmosphere.
